TORONTO, CANADA — After four months of performances to the delight of their audiences at various venues in the Greater Toronto Area, Pinoy rock icons Wally “Blues” Gonzalez, Joey “Pepe” Smith and Mike “Jeproks” Hanopol — collectively known as the “Juan de la Cruz Band” bid the suburbia goodbye in their “Himig Natin” Toronto Farewell Concert at the same venue where fans here raised the curtain for them.
Before the Toronto curtain is brought down, the Juan de la Cruz Band gives Torontonians one more time to rock at the Toronto International Celebration Church, 190 Railside Road (DVP and Eglinton Avenue E area) on Saturday, September 26. Doors open at 5 PM; show starts at 7 PM.
Folkrock singer Lolita Carbon of “Asin” – the group whose recordings mostly dealt with the protection of nature and the environment in Southern Philippines, will be specially appearing in the show, as well as Toronto-based “Robert Desmond Band“.
Segga Productions’ spokesperson Grace Parucha said that fans will have a chance to purchase the recently-launched CD albums of Wally Gonzalez’s “Wally’s Blues” and Joseph “Pepe” Smith’s “Baddest fr Pepe” and have their copies autographed by the artists at the Toronto Farewell Concert.
Wally’s and Pepe’s separate CD albums were produced by Segga Productions in Toronto and each contains new and original compositions by their respective artists.

Meanwhile, here’s one thing the Front Page Philippines’ camp may share with you: while people who are familiar with Front Page Philippines producer Ace Alvarez know the guy as a very quiet person, unknown to them, Ace is a rocker and has the “Juan de la Cruz Band” as among his favorite Filipino rock groups.
During the launching of Wally’s and Pepe’s CD albums, he asked both artists why it was so easy for fans to access and get near them, unlike other Filipino icons and celebrities.
Pepe replied that he likes mingling with people. Wally responded that if he is sharing the talent that he was gifted by God, then he must be easily accessible to those whom he shares his gift with.
Grace Parucha told Front Page Philippines that after the Toronto Farewell Concert, the “Juan de la Cruz Band” will fulfill engagements in Montreal, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Grand Prairie and Vancouver, then move to the United States to complete their North American tour, hence, fans are encouraged to watch for announcements in their locales, or visit go to the Segga Productions’ website.
