Dearest Gie & Ace,
First of all, let me thank you both for coming personally to my office, and to be honest, you guys are both wonderful and exceptional human beings. You both are really genuine … it’s not that easy to open up your heart to total strangers … or shall I say, it’s not possible to confide to strangers. .. but I never felt that you’re like strangers. I genuinely felt the connection right away to both of you. It’s like finding my long lost sister in you, Gie.
Thanks … just for listening … sometimes, we need to say things that has been kept inside for a very long period of time, just to release that heaviness in the heart … you know where I’m coming from … that big puzzle of my entire being … that only GOD has the missing piece and hope that one day, HE will give me that missing piece of the puzzle.
Thanks from the bottom of my heart!!!

– Reply from Producer Ace Alvarez –
Hi Shana,
As producer of Front Page Philippines, I am responding to your question below:
In one blog entry, I tackled the question sometime last September. For your benefit, here is an excerpt:
“ … for some viewers/readers who have not unmasked yet what the logo of “Front Page Philippines” stands for, the image represents the person of this author — a journalist catching his deadline (hhhmmm … am I not always in that situation, in addition to my functions as Managing Editor of “Manila Media Monitor”, President of the “Canadian Ethnic Media Association”, Vice President of the “Philippine Press Club-Ontario”, and so on .. and on … not to mention the things that as a journalist, I wittingly, or unwittingly, dip my fingers into.
“The creative was that of Paritosh Mehta — then Coordinator (now Director) for Independent Productions of OMNI Television, who sent the idea for execution of the artwork, and after the proof met my acquiescence, sent the same to Atlanta, Georgia where the computer graphics was generated as Front Page Philippines’ program ID (Thank you so much for your creative idea, Paritosh!).”
HERE’S THE LINK TO THE ENTIRETY OF THE ARTICLE, entitled “Happy 7th Birthday, Front Page Philippines!”
Thank you for your interest, and for watching regularly “Front Page Philippines”.

Dear Ace and Gie,
Peace!
I thank you very much for that taped TV interview that you gave to me and to Ang Kapatiran. Without that facility I won’t be able to reach out to our fellow Filipinos in Canada.
I do appreciate and admire the perfect teamwork and combination between you and Gie.
After reading the Passport to a New Philippines, I hope you and Gie would join us in rebuilding our country on an strong moral foundation, build a nation of character, introduce the prophetic politics of personal and social transformation, build a society that is just and kind, prosperous and peaceful, where everyone can live in its fulness and be a blessing to God and to one another.
I’d like very much to show in the Philippines our interview either in full or in part if only to impart the efforts Ang Kapatiran is nmaking to reach out to our fellow Filipinos abroad, particularly in Canada.
Let’s keep our lines open. You can always relay your message to Rey Ballares who will serve as the coordinator for the press in Canada. Thanks again to you and Gie.
God loves you.

Thank you po for your ongoing support in all our projects.
The Montreal concert was postponed to September 27 at the request of Montrealers and Ottawans who couldn’t make it on its original date on August 22 because of the “Celebrity Fastbreak” and “Jonas Brothers” concerts. It was a wise decision.
Will you be joining us in Montreal? We’re chartering a bus, You are more than welcome to travel with us to Montreal right after the September 26 Farewell Toronto Concert.
You will be coming to the Sept 26th Juan de la Cruz Band Toronto Farewell Concert, right? I have reserved 2 complimentary tickets for you. We have so many wonderful surprises at the farewell show. You don’t want to miss it.
Once again, we would like to advertise on “Front Page Philippines” the Toronto Farewell concert. Please let us know if this is feasible.

Please send us your mailing address.
Thank you so much for your participation.
Thank you, too, for regularly watching Front Page Philippines; even the reruns
(Gie and I must rerun episodes as other TV programs, too, for the summer break as industry standard practice, hence, the reason why we all hear and read “For the Fall Season” — which is the time when new shows, program titles in each station’s line up are announced. Hhhmmm … nice reason for me, but the truth for me is that rerunning the episodes lessens the heavy costs entailed in producing episodes, most of which go to studio time and video editor. Thanks for your very kind understanding.
Meanwhile, please see this link on Front Page Philippines blog site.

I’m sorry to have missed your communication in time for the visit of Philippine Ambassador to Canada Jose Brillantes and the embassy staff for a meeting with Filipino overseas workers here in Edmonton, Alberta.
It was really nice if I’ve seen and talked to them personally.
Anyway, our association has already contacted the office of foreign workers program.
I also want to tell you that our compatriots fear for reprisal, admonishment, discipline, or retaliatory action of any kind that their employer might do. But they have to take their chances, or they can work in that hotel and have their employer manipulate them.

It will be a pleasure to see you and Ace again. In this book I quoted Joe Luzadas’ write up on Rizal’s visit to Canada, as it was printed in Manila Media Monitor. So, I would like to mention this at the launching and acknowledge Ace, the paper’s publisher, alongside Mr. Luzadas himself.
I should tell you that I watch your shows as often as I can, and Sal and I find it at once informative as it is entertaining. Your amiable hosting just weaves news and feature items into a beautiful report, very well presented technically as well.
Congratulations on your, and Ace’s, fine services to our community. God bless and more power!
Best regards,

Hi Ace,
As winner of a ticket to the “2008 Filipino Day” at Canada’s Wonderland, thank you.
I do always watch your show and I can say that its format and contents are well-planned, well- formulated, informative and helpful to all Filipinos from all walks of life. It has the essence of a true spirit of “bayanihan”.
By the way, I am currently working here in one of the banks based in Toronto.
I do have a background and experiences in Philippine journalism and hoping that someday I can be a part of your good leadership and of a great support in all the endeavors/roles of Philippine journalism.
All the best and thanks.

My wife and I watch Front Page Philippines every Sunday and the latest show gave me the idea of contacting you.
The reason for my correspondence is to see what opportunities are available in the Philippines for someone with my background, experience and education.
Although we have not settled on any exact location, we have been looking at both Makati and Cebu.
Possibly there are other locations that you could suggest or recommend.
Any assistance you could render in regards to possible future employment situations would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Jim McKenzie

Dear Ace,
Re the script for the 30-sec. English and Tagalog versions of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce-Toronto PSA, I couldn’t really imagine how the PSA will appear after final production. All I know is that scripts coming from you are measured twice for accuracy.

Dear Mr. Alvarez,
I’m a Filipino based in Ottawa and I watched your show “Front Page Philippines” on Omni 2 Television.
It’s great to be in touch and updated about fellow Filipinos and our culture.
I found this wonderful Philippine tourism video in “YouTube” and I was thinking that maybe you can air it in your show.
I’m not sure if you need to request approval from the Dept. of Tourism to use it, nor if you already have this footage. Anyway, I just would like to help and share the beauty of our country, especially with other races in Canada.
Thanks and more power to your show.

We can’t find the words to sincerely thank you for all your caring ways.
Johnny and I are so blessed to have you both among our circle of friends.
By the way, one of our friends (ex-Bahrain also) was touched by the Tourism music.
She felt so homesick while watching Gie’s program, “Front Page Philippines” .
She used to be a radio announcer, too, back home (Radio DZGB?).
She actually cried (hu-hu-hu!!!!). If only I had all the time to move around on the night of our anniversary, I could have introduced her to Gie. Hopefully, there’s the next time — when we get together again!
A million, billion thanks to you again!!!
God Bless!!

Dear Mr. Alvarez,
You all make us proud as Filipinos, because of your untiring contribution to get everybody from our home country connected through the reunions and celebrations you help organize where we can appreciate the many talents of our kababayans.
